Rex Readies For Round III

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- As soon as Nick Folk’s game-winning kick sailed through the uprights Rex Ryan and his players knew they were heading to New England, but after the crazy season the Jets have endured who could blame them for wanting to take Saturday night to enjoy their hard fought victory?

After the game Ryan and many of his players said they didn’t want to talk about the Patriots just yet, they wanted to bask in the glory of beating Peyton Manning for the night, but they accepted the fact that come Monday it would be all about the Patriots.

Today Ryan was ready to talk about Brady and Belichick and he insists this time he will be ready for them. (more…)

Fresh Legs Should Help Jets

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- After 16 grueling regular season games teams heading to the playoffs tend to be nicked up with various minor injuries and feeling a bit worn down as they begin their preparation for the second season.

One of the goals of the regular season is to earn one of the top two seeds in your conference so you can benefit from the bye week by getting players a weeks worth of rest. The Jets weren’t able to achieve that goal this season, but the way things panned out might actually be better for them than having a week off. (more…)

Confident Sanchez Ready For Colts

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- Mark Sanchez may be just a second year quarterback, but with the experience of last year’s playoff run in his back pocket, he has the confidence of an established veteran.

“I’m feeling better towards the tail end of my second year. I feel light years ahead of where I was last year, just mentally, knowing the schedule, understanding what a playoff game feels like, anticipating that kind of energy that you get from their crowd and how you need to be loud at the line of scrimmage.” Sanchez said, “Little things that I had to experience first to understand, now I just feel a lot better (about). It’s a great opportunity (for) us and I’ll have a better feel for it.” (more…)

Manning, Colts Cramming For Jets

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- The Colts Peyton Manning is about as physically gifted a quarterback this league has ever seen, but it’s hardly a secret that it’s his hard work in studying and game preparation that makes it look so easy for him at times.

For once though Manning’s opponents have a head start on him as far as preparation goes. With last week’s game being meaningless as far as seeding goes, the Jets were able to begin preparation for either the Colts or the Chiefs as early as last week and Manning and the Colts had to focus solely on the Titans as they needed a win to secure their playoff spot. Theme Music

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- As the doors from the cafeteria to the indoor practice field swung open, the sound of Eminem’s, “Not Afraid,” greeted reporters eardrums. The next song was Bonecrusher’s (Yeah that guy, as awful as he was you have to remember the unintentional hilarity that was Bonecrusher) “Never Scared,” and at this point it became obvious a theme was beginning to take shape.

Are the Jets being written off by most pundits and talking heads, not named Trent Dilfer? Sure, do they care? Of course not, people have been doubting the Jets all year, scratch that they have been doubting the Jets since their inception, but the players never bought into the negative energy surrounding them and emerged from the extremely bizarre 2010 regular season with 11 wins and their second straight playoff appearance. The Road to Dallas Begins In Indy

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- This time last week it appeared as if the Jets 2011 playoff experience would begin in Kansas City. Considering the nature of this NFL season maybe no one should be surprised that the Jets will instead have to travel to Indianapolis this Saturday.

If the Chiefs, who were 7-0 at home, had just beaten the Raiders in Kansas City like expected the Jets would have been playing against the Chiefs. The Chiefs however couldn’t get the job done as they caught a severe beat down from the Raiders, giving Jet fans more of a reason to wish they were playing the Chiefs instead of the Colts.

Both teams are dangerous in their own way and present very different challenges to opposing teams, but the Jets matchup much better against the Chiefs, even after the Jets attempt to design a team structured to beat the likes of the Colts. Still the Jets are probably a better football team than both the Chiefs and the Colts, but of the three teams only one of them has Peyton Manning. (more…)
