Darrelle Revis Is Seeking Revenge

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- All-World cornerback Darrelle Revis says he’s out for ‘revenge’ this year. As confusing as that may sound at first, once you understand who and what he is seeking revenge on things start to be come crystal clear. Revis isn’t seeking revenge on any receivers (how could he? He shut them all down), no Revis is seeking revenge on… himself?

Yup the league’s best cornerback since Deion Sanders has gone on record saying he is seeking revenge on himself, because quite simply he wasn’t happy with his own performance last season. This is great news for the Jets and their fans, but also a horrifying thought to opposing receivers and quarterbacks league wide. (more…)

Jets Fans Should Get Used to Plaxico Injury News

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- It has been almost three years, so considering the incredibly short attention span us Americans (especially sports fans) have I guess that’s long enough to understand how people can forget so much about a player in such a relatively short amount of time. But three years or two days, prison or no prison, it doesn’t matter Plaxico Burress has a long and storied history of not practicing due to injuries. He also has a history of playing through said injuries and showing up on game day.

So when you hear news about Burress tweaking this, or hurting that, it’s best to go with the classic Allen Iverson approach, “Man, we in here talking about practice. I mean listen we’re talking about practice. Not a game, not a game, not a game… We’re talking about practice.” (more…)

Jets Roll Over Bengals 27-7

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.- In the Jets second preseason game the team turned in a much more impressive performance than last week in Houston. It was hardly perfect execution by the Jets, as they still had far too many self imposed mistakes, but it was clear that, even though this was just a preseason game, Plaxico Burress is here to make an impact on this team.

Take away Burress and this game likely turns out exactly like the Houston game, but Burress adds a potent dimension to this team that the offense desperately needed. (more…)

Jets-Bengals Preview: Who and What to Watch For

Friday, August 19th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- NFL preseason games are quite the paradox. As ESPN’s Mark Schlereth said, “it may not count, but it matters.” Just how much they matter though depends completely on your perspective.

For Peyton Manning a preseason game is essentially worthless. For Mark Sanchez it’s a chance to work on getting sharper and familiarizing himself with his new receivers, but no matter how good or bad he plays it’s impossible to tell it’s relevance because after all it’s just preseason. (more…)

Practicing Plaxico

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011
FLORHAM PARK, N.J - From the very first day of training camp Plaxico Burress has dominated the headlines and garnished the majority of the attention, all without taking part in team practices. The first week was all about the signing and why he choose to sign here as well as why the Jets choose to sign him. Then came the rolled/tweaked/sprained ankle saga that became all consuming, whether you were actually worried about the ankle or not.

It’s easy to understand why people were worried about the injury, after all it has been quite some time since Burress actually played football, but the way people so blatantly ignored the word ‘precautionary’ every time Rex Ryan said it in reference to Burress is another issue all together. Jets Sign Bills’ Bust Maybin

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.- With the Jets having already cut ties with their own first round draft bust, Vernon Gholston, it appears they have room for another first round disappointment on their roster. Earlier this morning Aaron Maybin choose a one-year deal with the Jets as his new team and pending his passing a physical, he will be the newest member of Gang Green.

What makes this such a curious signing is, where Gholston failed so did Maybin. Only Maybin failed in Buffalo and not with the Jets, which leads Rex Ryan to think he can coach the player up. (more…)

Jets Lose First Preseason Game to Texans 20-16

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Jets starting T Robert Turner is carted off the field after sustaining a leg injury in Monday's Jets-Texans Game.

It may have only been the preseason, but man did it feel good to have football back. The Jets lost the game to the Texans, but despite some worrisome negatives there was an awful lot for Jets fans to like.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way shall we. Vladimir Ducasse looked absolutely lost out there for the Jets. He was actually solid in the running game at first, but terrible in passing situations and the Jets simply can not live with that type of performance, even with their backup offensive linemen. Moore Activated Off PUP List, Mangold Shakes Off Stinger

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- Yesterday the Jets held their first goal-line drills of camp, which also meant it was the first full out contact drills of camp. Goal-line drills always provide for some of the most exciting and intense drills to watch, but the way the drills ended was not enjoyable for anyone around here.

On the final play of the drill Shonn Greene dove over the pile for a touchdown, which was the good news, but the bad news came immediately after when All-World center Nick Mangold dropped to the ground in obvious pain. Mangold eventually got up, later than he would have wanted to saying the trainers were telling him to stay down, and walked off the field on his own power. (more…)

WR Courtney Smith Looks the Part, But Can He Be the Part?

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- On the first day of training camp, as the media approached the practice field for their first look at this season’s Jets team, there were a lot of murmurs and whispers flying around about one very large man.

“Who is that guy?”

Is what everyone was asking each other as they frantically scrolled through their roster sheets in hopes of identifying the mystery man.

All the eyes were set on the group of wide receivers that were casually strolling through walk-thru, originally those eyes were set at the target of newly acquired receiver, Plaxico Burress (who is 6′5″ 232 pounds), but he was immediately recognized and identified. The curiosity and fascination then quickly switched to, who was this other 6′5″ 230 pound receiver lining up for the Jets? (more…)

Rotating D-Line Adds New Wrinkle To Rex’s Defense

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- Rex Ryan coached defenses are well known for their amoeba style, but according to Ryan things just became a bit more difficult for opposing offenses.

This will hardly be the first defense to imploy a rotating defensive line, but it’s the ingredients in this specific recipe that make it so special. The versatility of each part of the rotation will allow for so many different combinations that there is little chance the opposing offensive line will have an idea what anyone player will do on any one specific play.
