Jets Mount Huge Comeback, Win One For New York

Monday, September 12th, 2011

East Rutherford, N.J.- Man, did this game have it all. There was great play and terrible play, a sibling rivalry (Rex vs. Rob), New York vs. Dallas, turnovers sacks and blocked punts, all the emotions that come with the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and an amazing comeback capped off by a 50-yard game-winning field goal.

A game being held on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 was always going to be a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, but no one could have foreseen just how crazy of a ride it would be. (more…)

AFC Preview

Friday, September 9th, 2011

The NFL season kicked off last night and we couldn’t have asked for a better game to start the season, if that game is any indication as to the type of season we are about to have I say awesome, bring it. So with the first game of the season underway, with two NFC teams having played last night, now would seem to be the perfect time for an AFC preview.

First things first, remember all the parity we heard so much about last year? Yeah, well you can forget about that ‘P’ word this year, because for now, at least, that’s flown right out the window. For most of last season there was very little that separated the very good teams from the kind of good teams and the same goes for the not really any good teams to the just plain bad teams. But then the Patriots started distancing themselves from the pack, piling up win after win, but clearly parity still reigned supreme considering the eventual Super Bowl Champions barely made the playoffs, due just as much to the futility of the Giants as it was to the Packers hitting their stride. Rex Ryan, “We have no excuses”

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- There’s a lot of pressure riding on Rex Ryan and this year’s Jets team, pressure that was put on them by none other than Ryan himself. If the Jets fail to live up to their own lofty expectations, fans and pundits will look for reasons why. ‘Fire Schottenheimer.’ ‘Get a pass rusher.’ ‘Sanchez will never be good enough.’ Are just some of the potential excuses that fans and critics alike will lean on, but there is one person who will not be making any excuses.

If the Jets don’t get it done this year, it will be no ones fault but his own. The head coach of this team has done a masterful job of deflecting the attention away from his team and putting it squarely on his shoulders, so if the ship starts to sink, captain Rex will go down with it. No excuses. (more…)

Jets Set 53 Man Roster and Practice Squad

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- The Jets officially announced their opening day roster earlier today, how long that roster stays the same however is a whole other story in itself. Yesterday evening the team had to trim it’s roster down to 53 players, but that was far from the end of the waiting game for many players as they still had to wait to learn if they would be replaced by other players who were recently released from other teams.

With the Jets having depth issues at specific spots on the team, many of the bubble players couldn’t feel safe after yesterday’s news and today some found out their fears were justified.┬áNot even 24 hours after thinking they were safe after surviving the initial cut, Aaron Maybin, Isaiah Trufant and Martin Tevaseu were all waived today by the Jets to make room for new players the team signed off waivers. Jets-Eagles Preseason Finale Preview

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Florham Park, N.J.- Week four of the preseason, the week the majority of people could care less about is upon us. The first couple of weeks everyone is just so excited to have football back that preseason games are enough to hold them over. Then week three gives us the most playing time for starters and gives the Jets a chance to play against their in-state (as well as in-stadium) rivals, so naturally everyone loves week three.

But week four, with no starters playing (except some rookies) and the regular season just a week away this is the least interesting preseason game of the year. That is unless you are one of the fringe players trying to find yourself employed this fall/winter. If you’re excited about this game because you want to see the Eagles Mike Vick in action then you will surely be disappointed, but if you’re excited about the game to see who plays themselves on or off the roster then this is the game for you.
