Injury Report: No Hasselbeck Today
For the 9-5 Jets, wide receiver Brad Smith was limited in practice as he recovers from a concussion sustained in the Dec. 7 loss to the 49ers. Smith missed the first game of his three-year career last Sunday against the Bills and was replaced by David Clowney, who recorded a 26-yard catch. In 13 games this season, Smith has just ten catches for 68 yards and 11 carries for 116 yards rushing.
The only new addition to the Jets’ injury report is guard Brandon Moore (ankle), who fully practiced.
Limited Participation: LB Eric Barton (Knee), WR Laveranues Coles (thigh), LB David Harris (groin), NT Kris Jenkins (hip), WR Brad Smith (concussion), LB Bryan Thomas (shoulder)
Full Participation: WR Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder), G Brandon Moore (ankle), LB Jason Trusnik (knee)
For the Seahawks, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not participate in practice due to a back injury that has limited him to just seven games this season. Hasselbeck was among the league’s best quarterbacks last season in tossing 28 touchdown passes and 3,966 yards, but both he and the Seahawks have dealt with their struggles in 2008. Hasselbeck has thrown just five touchdown passes compared to ten interceptions and has completed just 52 percent of his passes. If Hasselbeck is unable to play, sixth-year veteran Seneca Wallace will start (eight touchdown passes, one interception).
While the Seahawks enter Sunday’s matchup with the Jets at 3-11, Wallace explained that the Seahawks still have a lot to play for.
“Pride, the name on the back of the jersey and the logo on the helmet. You just have to go out, keep playing, have fun and not really worry about your record,” Wallace said. “It’s just going out and competing every Sunday.”
Did Not Participate: CB Jordan Babineaux (concussion), QB Matt Hasselbeck (back), LB LeRoy Hill (neck), OT Shaun Locklear (toes), WR Koren Robinson (knee)
Limited Participation: LB D.D. Lewis (shin)
