Jets Dipping into the College Ranks in Coaching Search

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski is scheduled to interview for the Jets vacant head coaching position on Tuesday. Jagodzinski joined Boston College prior to the 2007 season, after serving as the Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator in 2006.

With quarterback Brett Favre mulling retirement, could a reunion between Favre and his former coordinator be in the works? During the 2006 season, quarterback Brett Favre tossed 18 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in leading the Packers to an 8-8 record.

Jagodzinski was a tight ends coach with the Packers from 1999-2003 and the Falcons offensive line coach in 2004-2005.

Schefter is also reporting that the Jets plan to interview former Ravens head coach Brian Billick. Billick was fired after the Ravens finished 5-11 in 2007. He coached the Ravens to a 80-64 record over nine seasons and led Baltimore to a victory in Super Bowl XXXV.
