Jets Announce Final Cuts
UPDATED AT 4:20 PM
Check back with JetsInsider.com often today as we update news on player cuts and possible additions as the team trims it’s roster to 53 players.
In very Wayne Chrebet-like fashion, long shot RB Danny Woodhead has made the team. The Jets just announced their final cuts and the undrafted fireplug division II RB from Chadron State, who spent all of last season on IR after he blew out his knee in camp, has made the final 53.
Here is the full list of players cut today:
Surprise players kept include two Rutgers LB’s: One year LB Brandon Renkart who surprisingly beat out Cummings and not as much of a surprise, rookie Jamal Westerman who was undrafted and actually had a better camp than Vernon Gholston.
Look for Gang Green to keep a very close eye on the waiver wire this afternoon and this evening as they search for help at tight end, punter and possibly offensive line and wide receiver.
The Jets will likely bring back several of the players cut today for their practice squad of eight if they clear waivers.
