Braylon Back In The Mix

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – Various media sources are reporting that the team is close to re-signing veteran WR Braylon Edwards. Sources say he was in Florham Park this afternoon for a physical and will be in Cortland tomorrow when players are set to report after he signs a one year contract.

With the announcement today of Santonio Holmes starting camp on the PUP lis and his return date uncertain, the signing of Edwards brings some needed veteran depth to the team’s shaky wide receiving corps. The Jets signed Edwards towards the end of last season after he was released by the 49ers. His first stint with the Jets was in 2009-2010 where he caught 11 TD’s and was Mark Sanchez’s favorite target during their two consecutive AFC Championship Game runs.

A fan favorite, during this off-season many fans had lobbied the Jets on social media to re-sign Edwards and barring any surprises, their wishes will soon come true.

The Jets first full team practice is Friday in Cortland. Be sure to check back to often for full coverage!

This was a much-needed signing considering that the Jets don’t have any WR worth a damn except for Kerley and he’s a slot receiver.

Frankly, Braylon should’ve never been “let go” after the 2010 season. I think it should’ve been Holmes who hit the bricks and Braylon be the one who was signed. He would’ve been more PRODUCTIVE on the field than Holmes. Plus, he provided not only a safety-net for Mark Sanchez who was still fooling everyone into thinking he was an NFL QB, but he was also a big target and an effective run-blocker that helped the running game be more effective than it normally would of been.

I pray that Braylon plays well enough so that he is signed for yet another year in the Green and white for 2014 but that’s down the road. Time to see what THE BEARD has in store for Jets Fans in 2013.
