After facing the Colts, the Jets will travel to Cincinnati for a matchup against the Bengals. Next they will face their regular annual opponents the NY Giants at home and finish on the road agains the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets open their 2014 preseason at home against Andrew Luck and the Colts.

The Jets play the Colts for just the second time in the preseason, while their matchup against the Bengals is the third in the last four years, and the second straight in Cincinnati. The team’s third preseason game against the Giants renews a series played every preseason since 1969. The fourth contest against the Eagles continues the Jets streak of facing Philadelphia in the each of the preseason’s final week since 2001.

The actual dates and times of the matchup will be announced at a later date. The regular season schedule is expected to be released sometime within the next two weeks.

Jets sign WR Jacoby Ford

Tuesday, April 1st, 2014

FLORHAM PARK, NJ -  The Jets signed a WR today and no it was not DeSean Jackson. They did though add some veteran depth by inking former Raiders WR Jacoby Ford.

Jets inked former Raider WR Jacoby Ford.

Ford, a former 4th round pick for the Raiders in 2010 who ran a 4.28 40 yard dash at the scouting combines can catch the ball and return kicks. The 5′9″ 190 Lb former Clemson product has shown flashes of talent over his five year career but has mostly been known for his time on the injury report. He has only 57 career receptions and just 3 TD’s.

Contract details were not available but based on Ford’s injury history it’s believed his deal is mostly incentive based. Ford joins fellow former AFC West alum, Eric Decker in the Jets re-vamped WR corps.

There had been reports that the team was also interested in former Eagles WR DeSean Jackson but since his release last week, it seems that interest has waned. Jackson met with the Redskins today and they seem to be the frontrunner to sign him.

The team also hosted free agent OL Rich Ohrnberger who spent time with the Patriots and most recently the Chargers. The career backup would provide much needed offensive line depth if he is signed.
