CORTLAND, NY – As the Jets check in to training camp today at SUNY Cortland, multiple sources have confirmed that the team has inked DE Jason Babin. According to ESPN, the deal is for two years.
Babin, entering his 11th season in the NFL had 40 tackles and 7.5 sacks for the Jaguars last season. He was released by Jacksonville not long after he signed a 3 year $7MM extension. The well travelled veteran has also played for Houston, Kansas City, Tennessee and Seattle. His best year as a pro was in 2011 when he recorded 18 sacks for the Eagles. His signing adds more depth to an already talented defensive line.
As a pro, he has 62 sacks. CB Lowell Rose was released to make room for Babin. Also, the team announced that Veteran G Willie Colon and LB Antwan Barnes will start camp on the PUP as they both continue to rehab after off -season knee surgeries.
