View Full Version : It's down to three guys for me

For me, it's shaping up to be one of three guys I really hope we get a shot at when #17 rolls around.
Mark Sanchez - QB
Jeremy Maclin - WR
Tyson Jackson - DE
I'm still fluid on my thinking but I think there's about a 50-50 chance one of these three guys drops to us at 17 and that would make the pick interesting. If all three are gone, I think I'd prefer a trade down if possible.
If you've got a short wish-list, who is it?

Maclin for me. Though it'd be tough to pass on Sanchez there. At 17 the risk isn't that great.

My short list in order is:
Maclin
Wells
Jackson
(Sanchez is such a wild card for me, I have no idea if I want him or not)

I want Maclin or Sanchez at 17
I personally don't want Tyson Jackson with the 17th pick

I like WR-Maclin or Britt

Definately thinking WR. Maclin would be ideal, but I really don't think he'll be available when we pick. Britt, Nicks, DHB, or Harvin would be better targets, although it seems like we'll never reach a consensus which WR is best out of that group.

Please, please no Sanchez... every throw he makes arcs... has an arm like Leinart. Go watch Stafford/Freeman and then Sanchez... a huge difference in arm strength. He will be terrible for the Meadowlands.
Happy with any of the following 3 Receivers - Maclin, Britt, Nicks
Happy with any of USC's Lbers - Mauluga, Cushing.
Happy with Connor Barwin - a top 10 athlete in this draft... considered a 2nd rounder/borderline 1st rounder now... but will make a Flacco like climb come draft time.

No to Jackson - highly overrated
No to Maualuga - 2-down LB's should not be taken with 1st-round picks. Overrated for where he is projected to be taken
No to Sanchez - QB's who come out early usually bust, so what does that mean for a QB who only started one season?
At this point, I can't see the pick being anything other than WR, or possibly, RB. There is no depth at RB; what happens if TJ, who is about to be 30, goes down due to injury? With the release of Coles, there is an obvious hole in our receiving corps that could be addressed at 17.

I agree (although I think Sanchez does have a better arm than Leinart). Bottom line: You don't draft a 6'2 QB with a decent arm (not cannon) that has limited game experience in the 1st round. Big mistake and big waste of money.

i believe it will be a WR and I will say Macklin if he is still there. Bey is intriguing because he is tall and fast but is he worth the #17?

With all the money and picks we have invested in Pace, Harris, Scott, Gholston and Thomas we better not draft a linebacker in round one. It has to be either QB or WR. Maybe DL.

any chance the jets take a jarron gilbert with the 17th pick. the kids got a lot of potential and we can always grab a nice wr in the 2nd round

ILB is not a need now with Scott/Harris...
but taking an OLB is still not out of the question -
In a year, Pace may be the only guy left:
Thomas plays with no fire. Gholston doesn't play.
