Who knows of DT Linval Joseph from East Carolina?

Same school that's produced Chris Johnson and a bunch of other solid, athletic talent that's managed to stick in the league for a couple years.

6'6 325 and supposedly a good athlete. Honestly, I heard the name, read the measurables, and now want to know more. CB? Bit?

Can't help you with Joseph and not wishing to hijack your thread but the guy at East Carolina that really intrigues is CJ Wilson....listed as 6-4 278 so is either a slightly undersized 3-4 end or a bulked-up OLB....perhaps the fact he has such good numbers is down to a guy like Joseph occupying blockers

also like the look of Dwayne Harris at WR...another Pirate that could be a good pro

Wilson is the best ECU prospect- legitimate pass rusher but small (6-2.5/277)...Joseph is a big lumber space eater....moves around the field like he weighs 375 pounds....controls blockers up front but does not do much else...

Do you see CJ as an OLB in our system?...277lbs is pretty hefty to be on the outside but the modern 3-4 seems to be going further that way,Pace is about 272 though admittedly taller....or is he totally a 4-3 prospect?

don't see him as an OLB....potential one-gap DE, maybe a five technique lineman...Pace entered the league about 262-265; point being players will get heavier as they physically mature...

the east carolina program has been putting out top talent lately.

we can see in the liberty bowl but this guy is a marginal prospect until he gets his weight under control.

there's a guy on right now in the independce bowl Kade Weston UGA

weston was the 3rd def tackle out of georgia behind atkins and owens.

but i defintely take a flyer on him in the 6th round if he was still available.

georgia produces good d- lineman.

can't teach 6-5 320 solid pounds.

watched a ton of ECU film on Sunday.....Joseph has the size and body for NT...he plays tall and does not use his hands well...

he's only a junior and there's no hint of him entering....

Have been hearing Linval Joseph's name a lot as of late. Mike Mayock is saying he doesn't see him getting out of the 2nd round now. Teams are looking at Joseph as a potential 3-4 DE rather than NT. Interesting to say the least. He would be a big anchor on the end and might make sense in late round two.

It's interesting how often times positions get pegged for ideal height and weights and then some team comes along and plays good players that don't fit that picture to good results. The Ravens have played Ngata at 3-4 end a fair bit I believe. Also why not play bigger stouter guys at DE in a 3-4 if their main job is to stop the run and get penetration.

Exactly. Ngata has played both the nose and end. Joseph is definitely stout at around 6'4 330. He did 3rd best at the combine in the bench press putting it up 39 times so strength is not an issue.

He was not expected to enter the draft but he has a lot of potential and will be over drafted because of it. Could turn out to be a good pro though. Stamina and injuries are a concern but I could see Rex liking this type of guy since gives him some added flexibility on the D-line. Probably more of a rotational guy that will not be on the field all of the time but could make an impact when he is on the field.

In the JI mock, I took him for Miami in the 3rd round. Probably about where he'll go and a good fit for that team. His ability to move around the line will make him an important part of a rotation this year. Probably a 4th DL right now with the potential to develop into a top tier NT.

SenorGato 04-03-2010 11:58 AM

I think he's a 4th round guy like Sammie Lee Hill and Anthony Montgomery.
