Some draft stats tendencies last 25 years...
Positions take in the 1st round:
DE - 98 - 12.7% WR - 96 - 12.4% RB - 89 - 11.5% OT - 84 - 10.9% CB - 79 - 10.2% DT - 68 - 8.8% QB - 53 - 6.9% OLB - 50 - 6.5% ILB - 44 - 5.7% S - 41 - 5.3% OG - 31 - 4% TE - 27 - 3.5% FB - 2 - 0.3% K - 1 - 0.1% (Some things to consider, more teams have moved to the 3-4 the last few years thus changing pick priority for things like OLB.) Some team tendencies: The teams that drafted 1st round offense the most (% of their draft picks used): Detroit - 71.4% New York Giants - 64% Pittsburgh - 63% Chicago - 60% The teams that drafted 1st round defense the most (% of their draft picks used): Dallas - 70.8% San Diego - 63.6% Tennessee - 63.6% Cincinnati - 61.3% The teams that drafted 1st round lineman the most (% of their draft picks used): Philadelphia - 65.2% Minnesota - 56% Tampa Bay - 52.2% Kansas City - 52% Some teams preference for certain positions (1st round). Detroit and Kansas city have both chosen 5 OT's N.Y. Jets lead with most TE's taken with 4. :O Minnesota, the Jets and Tampa have taken 6 DE's Philly has taken the most DT's with 5 I have this data (and actually all draft data for the last 25 years) on a spreadsheet so if anyone wants other stats from this let me know and I'll try an come up with it for you. |
woohoo! TEs!!
Surprised to see WR rank #2, then not so surprised when i reflected on the matter. They do tend to clutter up the end of the first round alot, and often are the BPA. |
OH OH I'VE GOT ONE!!!!
No one drafts their #3 WR in the first round after giving up two picks for a young veteran with #1 ability. |
Haha TE....
If left up to certain members on this forum, we'd have 5 in that department, and wouldn't have Sanchez or BE (i don't think we trade for bray if we didn't have a future potential franchise QB) |
