Official 2011-2012 New Jersey Devils Thread
With the season about to start in a little over 2 days I find myself reflecting on what a great run we had at the end of the year last year...
It's tough to be proud of a loser but I think that's as close as you can get to doing it... I'll admit I haven't had much of a chance to watch the preseason at this stage so I'm not quite sure how the lines look, which kids made it and which kids didn't... I know Parise has a 'C' this season, with Elias and Kovy assisting... So if there's anything I should know before the season begins, (i.e. who to look out for) please let me know :) Oh and Puck Filthy... |

Going to the Rock tonight, should be a tough game against the Kings. I was at the game last Saturday, it's going to be up and down to start the season, though I think that awfulness of last season under Johnny Mac is behind them.

Well, certainly a much better start to the season than last year. I've been pretty pleased with what I've seen.

That's a real nice win to snap the little losing streak. Came back from down 2-0 and down 3-2. Last year's team would have mailed it in after being down 2-0.
Hopefully, Kovy is okay. Was listening on the radio, but they said he sat out OT and the shootout. |

The young kid, Henrique, is really playing well and is scoring some big goals. He makes this team even deeper when guys like Zajac and Josefson return. I'm very excited about the possibilities with this team once they get healthy and as they continue to gel. |

Couple things...
Proud of Larsson for getting the monkey off his back. We have to have the WORST power play in the NHL... Our PP O and D are on completely different sides of the spectrum. It's painful to watch... I know Kovy being out isn't helping but this shiz can't continue... Hoping for the split tonight. We'll see. Not optimistic. |
But apparently we can win shootouts no problem :yes:

Didn't catch the first 2 periods due to class tonight, but heard the 3rd period in the car and they were getting totally dominated (despite scoring 2 goals). They really need Kovy, Zajac, and Josefson back in the lineup. They just can't score and the PP is just anemic, as you mentioned.

That's 3 out of 4 on this road trip. One more tough one tonight against the Panthers before they come home on Wednesday.

4 game losing streak snapped in OT tonight up in Toronto. Clarkson with a pair of goals and the team as a whole with 2 PP goals.
Have seen some things I've really liked so far this year (#1 PK in the league, stellar play from rookies Larsson and Henrique), but they're still inconsistent right now. Looking forward to Zajac coming back. Sounds like he's at most only a couple weeks away from suiting up. |
