Sanchez vs Flacco
Sanchez has Qb rating of 83 to Flacco's 75.
12 Td's to Flacco's 8
both picked 6 times.
Both sacked 16 times.
Sanchez completes 55% to Flacco's 53%
Sanchez had zero running game for weeks. Flacco has one of the best rb's in NFL.
If Flacco is Elite, then Sanchez is what?
whats their rating on madden 12' with roster updates?!
While I love Joe (UDel alum!) who's calling him elite? He's an average nfl qb. Mark most of the time is an average qb, who tends to play really well when all of the pressure is on.

Flacco did have a pretty good year, last year. Maybe they're basing this "elite" status off of that?
Also, you're talking about Clayton and Simms here. Not exactly known for their love of the Jets.
These are the same asshoIes that said Josh Freeman is an elite QB
John Clayton's an elite toolbag.
Flacco's good, I think he has the potential to be really good, but I don't think anyone can really call him "elite" at this point. People love to throw terminology around but "elite" should be saved for the, well, elites like Manning, Brady, Rodgers and Brees.
I believe you're throwing the term around too. If you take away the current season Rodgers is NOT an ELITE QB. Obviously he won the superbowl and he's tearing it up right now, but there were a few games last year where he really didn't produce. Not to mention he has experienced and very skilled wr's. If he keeps running house like what he's doing now for the rest of the year I think you can start calling him elite. As for now I don't think he deserves to be considered on the same level as Brady and Peyton or Brees.

In the end, Sanchez > Flacco
It's really not that much of a debate. Flacco sucks in the playoffs and really is just not much of an impressive QB. Not saying Sanchez is impressive, but he's shown flashes and for 2 consecutive years has stepped up his game during the playoffs.
flacco is very limited as a qb. he needs a good team around him to make plays. i don't see the same with sanchez. sanchez has way more mobility and good enough accuracy and arm strength to be a really good qb.
Simms should worry about his own kids...

I don't like comparing Sanchez to contemporaries. I prefer to compare him to older QB's
at the same point of their career. Curiously, Sanchez is very comparable stat-wise to Tom Brady.
Here are their stats after their first 38 games.
Brady 771/1238; 62.2%; 8075 yds; 6.5 ypa; 54 td; 33 int; 22 fumbles
Sanchez 603/1102; 54.7%; 7280 yds; 6.6 ypa; 41 td; 39 int; 16 fumbles
It should be noted that Brady had 1 year in the NFL under his belt before becoming the starting
QB and Sanchez started his first game as a rookie. So, one would expect Brady's stats to be better
after his first 38 games.
Some judge QB's by wins. So, here is their records through 38 regular season games.
None of this included playoff stats or records. Here is their playoff records
and stats through the same point of their careers.
Brady 60/97; 61.9%; 572 yds; 5.9 ypa; 1 td; 1 int; 3 wins, 0 losses
Sanchez 95/137; 60.5%; 1155 yds ; 7.4 ypa; 9 td; 3 int; 4 wins, 2 losses
People can obviously draw thier own conclusions. My conclusion is that Sanchez is doing
just fine, has proven to be at his best in crunch time, and has a very high ceiling. I don't know
that he'll ever be as good as Brady is right now, but their is really nothing you can point to and
say Sanchez has no chance of ever being as good as Brady.
I don't think you can make that distinction.

People use the term "elite" far too often. IMO, elite means top two or three in the game. It's better than being a pro bowler. Clayton is a buffoon.
This year, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are elite, with Ben Roehtlisberger and Eli Manning knocking on the door.
Joe Flacco isn't even sniffing elite.
Flacco is worse than Sanchez its plain as day...Flacco's ceiling is much, much lower. His Pocket presence isn't close nor is his escapability and mobility. Flacco's arm may be a little stronger but Sanchez has a good enough arm to make any nfl throw. Both are tough. Both struggle with their accuracy from time to time but when the the chips are down im taking sanchez to win a game for me over Flaccostein
Entering November 2011 QB rankings..this is gonna be strange..first time in a long time Peyton Manning is not in the top 1 or 2
