Ranking Every Jet QB to Start a Game Since Namath

I thought this was really interesting, especially learning about the many QB's from when I was too young to understand football.

Also puts our current QB situation into perspective.

Here's the top 10 per the article below...

Popping up a link from Bleacher Report is lazy... The site sucks... Slideshows suck...

The topic is interesting enough...

With that said, let the Pennington love/hate commence...

10) Lucas
9) O'Donnell
8) Ryan
7) Favre
6) Esiason
5) Sanchez
4) Todd
3) O'Brien
2) Pennington
1) Testaverde

Disagree completely...
First of all it's important to note the circumstances that each QB was thrust into the starting role.

Second, it is interesting to see how many games each QB started and the stats they accumulated, especially to note how many QB's we have had in our history that started less than 10 games.

Third, what I find most interesting is the bottom half of the list, NOT the top ten of which every member knows/remembers each QB.

Finally, boiling down that list of 25 QB's and all that info down to a simple "top ten" list is lazy, over simplistic, and ignores over half of the content on the discussion.

This is a Jets message board, not ESPN's Top 10 plays. Everything doesn't have to be condensed into easy to understand quick bites for mouth-breathers, it's the offseason and we are devoid of interesting topics.

Matt Robinson over Lucas and O'Donnell, and even Favre.

DDNYjets 07-03-2012 11:17 AM

Is this "as a Jet" or can we take into account their careers?

If it is the latter then Favre is easily at the top.

JetFreak89 07-03-2012 11:22 AM

Since the top 10 was already posted, it only makes sense to post the whole list, so here it is.

24. David Norrie
23. Marty Domres
22. Kyle Mackie
21. Tony Eason
20. Jack Trudeau
19. Bubby Brister
18. Brooks Bollinger
17. Frank Reich
16. Glenn Foley
15. Browning Nagle
14. Rick Mirer
13. Quincy Carter
12. Kellen Clemens
11. Matt Robinson
10. Ray Lucas
09. Neil O'Donnell
08. Pat Ryan
07. Brett Favre
06. Boomer Esiason
05. Mark Sanchez
04. Richard Todd
03. Ken O'Brien
02. Chad Pennington
01. Vinny Testeverde

Only considers the work done as a Jet or you would be correct.

Not exactly Murderers Row there, is it?

Dreamers 07-03-2012 12:04 PM

Farve, Carter, and Lucas should be higher IMO. Richard Todd at 4? Not sure I get that at all. Carter was actually a very good QB he had other issues that made him a bench warmer.

NY2FLDWC85 07-03-2012 12:25 PM

Kellen Clemens at 12? The same Kellen Clemens who trips over his own two feet when making a simple 3 step drop back? That's when you know it's been bad...

124 07-03-2012 12:42 PM

The list is awful. How is Favre 7th? Rick Mirer 14th? He didn't win a single game and yet he's above Brooks Bollinger? Bleacher Report strikes again.

I wonder if there is any correlation from that list to the Jets performance on the field the last 42 years?

could you at least attempt to pretend to make an effort to show that you're not just trolling for the sake of trolling?

LockeJET 07-03-2012 12:56 PM

Crazy thing is, I'd take Tom Tupa as my QB ahead of 3/4's of the list.

Peebag 07-03-2012 12:59 PM

Brooks Bollinger is on a list?

That Bleacher Report sucks? Oh, you didn't highlight that part...

Every fan of the team knows we've had a Bearsesque situation at QB for decades...

I don't really find it interesting how many scrub QB's have started a handful of games... To each his own though...

Not really... It boils it down to the QB's I felt should be discussed... That was my opinion, as you're entitled to yours... They were the only ones with merit, in my eyes...

I gave a portion of the content some kudos... It was interesting how crappy the top 10 QB's the Jets have had since Namath is...

The rest aren't worth discussing, again, in my opinion...

Normally Bleacher Report threads are dumped... Just be glad yours has lasted this long...

Traitor Jay & the Woodies 07-03-2012 01:10 PM

Can't argue with that list actually. Sad as that may be...

Untouchable 07-03-2012 01:11 PM

I still think I'd rank Chad ahead of Vinny.

Vinny led comebacks... some of the franchise's best. Chad was great with a lead but when we were down, we were done.

Vinny gets the nod by this fact alone, imo.
