R$aiders franchise safety Tyvon Branch signs a four year deal

Gives the raiders two Safeties that can match up man to man with the top Te's. Look for Cedric Benson signing soon.

What is a franchise safety? Is that like a franchise personal punt protector?

DDNYjets 07-14-2012 02:20 PM

Not sure I ever heard the term "franchise safety". That moniker is usual reserved for QBs and should only be used for QBs IMO.

Branch was slapped with the franchise tag before they reached a long-term deal.

Another day. Another horrible contract the Raiders give to a Safety.

And I actually like Tyvon Branch but not at that contract value. Someone must have cloned Al Davis.

Raiders are obsessed with overpaying Safeties. Gibril Wilson, Michael Huff, that guy who helped the Cowboys win the SB in 1995. It's pathetic.

Umm, have you even seen Spongebob's game-tape? Kid gets burned for big gains a LOT. As for Dora, she gets rattled too easily when she's hanging in the pocket (especially when Boots isn't in the backfield).

When your QB is 74 year old career flop C Palmer yoour defense is going to be on the field 47 minutes a game so you need explosive safeties.

Maybe when Bungles West scarfs up career flop C Benson next things will improve

At least Al's semi retarded son, the owner isn't making Pornaudition tapes with bimbos and crapping on the memory of a beloved departed family member

The reason Gronkowski was so unstoppable last season is because teams didn’t have players that could match up with him reliably and take him out of the game. He is also too big a target–and Brady too accurate a passer–to contain with zone coverage. He is a savvy enough receiver that he can attack the space between zones and Brady can get the football into those spaces, or high enough that only Gronkowski can come down with it, removing any chance the zone coverage has of stopping the plays.

Oakland went a different route. They eschewed zone schemes in favor of their usual aggressive man coverage, and found a guy who could live with Gronkowski both athletically and physically at the line.

In a league where players like Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham are becoming unstoppable forces as teams struggle to match up with them, everybody is looking for a safety with the kind of coverage skills to be matched up one-on-one and win. It turns out the Raiders have exactly what everybody is looking for in the shape of Tyvon Branch, who just might be the best man-coverage safety in the league.

Maybe when the Jets find those kind Of safeties(m Huff is another that can do that) they will finally win the Afc East division. (having the best set of Cb's hasn't gotten them any closer to a division title.

Maybe with those franchhise safeties the Raiders can amass another 7 or 8 win season allowing the retarded son of Al to make his annual coach and GM firing and replacement in Feb

Correct me if I'm wrong, Jets were the same 8-8. That same Raider team ran the ball down the jets throat for how many yards again.(most yardage ever put up on a Rex Ryan defense) Correct me if I'm wrong also the Jets were picking early than the raiders in the draft for what reason again.

This message isn't hidden from SG3 because he isn't on my ignore list. (actually makes me look smarter than i am)

BTw Just watch how awesome both M Huff and T Branch look playing in a modern defense this year.

Of course

Another explosive championship season like the last 9 youve predicted.

So that would make Gronkowski a franchise tight end?
