New Story: Jets WR Chaz Schilens talks matchups, Tebow

Cortland, NY : One offseason addition to the New York Jets roster was former Oakland Raider wide receiver Chaz Schilens.* After playing in only 13 games in 2009 and 2010, Schilens stayed healthy last season catching 23 passes in 15 games.

Schilens, who stands tall at 6'4" and weights 225 pounds, is a large target that can stretch the field with rookie wide receiver Stephen Hill.* Today at practice he showed he doesn't mind catching balls in the middle of the field either. Probably not, when Schillens gets "physical" he usually hurts himself.

I'm not sure, because Hill's potential goes through the roof. But, with all that said, we can do so many things on offense with our WR's. We can line up both Hill and Chaz on the outside (two vertical deep threats) which would be guaranteed to open up underneath routes for both Holmes coming out of the slot (from time to time) along with Keller feasting down the middle of the field. Also, Joe McKnight could become a weapon coming out of the backfield.

When you have two WR's such as Hill and Chaz, who can both stretch the field? You'll have some nice plays drawn up. I also like the fact that Chaz is very solid coming over the middle of the field. Can't forget about Kerley either; a natural slot WR.

Man, our offense may become something very fun to watch under Sparano this season. He loves to establish the run in order to set up a vertical passing attack; we now have THOSE WR's. Holmes can also beat you deep.

If Schilens can stay healthy we could potentially have a nightmare to cover out there with Hill & Schilens out wide with Holmes in the slot (which is honestly the best place to use Holmes).
