Harris, Holmes, Cro on Forbes Top10 overpaid list

Harris, Holmes on Forbes overpaid list

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- This isn't the kind of list you want to be on. Forbes magazine published its list of the most overpaid NFL players, and three Jets made the top-10 list:

1. David Harris, LB, Jets -- $12 million

2. Karlos Dansby, LB, Dolphins -- $10.7 million

3. Johnathan Joseph, CB, Texans -- $9.75 million

4. Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jaguars -- $9.6 million

5. Santonio Holmes, WR, Jets -- $9.25 million

CB Antonio Cromartie ($8.25 million) was mentioned in the next five, along with Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams ($8.7 million), Seahawks WR Sidney Rice ($8.2 million), 49ers TE Vernon Davis ($8.0 million) and Raiders RB Darren McFadden ($7.8 million).

Confusing list...

Joseph was a big part of the reason that Houston transformed itself into a top defense.

Harris is a solid player. Although he does have his faults, (athleticism) he's still doing a nice job out there.

Cromartie pisses everyone off at times, but he's still a very good NFL player.

Impossible to argue. Cro is the only one who comes close to performing at the levels you would expect from his salary, and he only has to go up against a #1 threat when the best defensive player in football is out.

Holmes and Harris are severely overpaid, though both would look better if surrounded by better talent. Stick Harris on the Ravens defense and he'd be Bart Scott circa 2008.

McGinley 09-20-2012 10:53 AM

Yea, I heard this on The Herd. Really couldn't care less, honestly.

the first two games of the season are typical cro. pick 6, then gives up bonehead td. overall, he's good.

Johnathan Joseph does not deserve to be on this this. Remember how atrocious Houston's secondary was before he got there, probably not because he's a big part why they are a top 3 D.

GreenWave 09-20-2012 10:54 AM

BTW, Vernon Davis on that list is a joke.

NYJCAP2 09-20-2012 10:56 AM

Interesting that there are QB's, some of them back ups, who are not on that list...

Harris is a disappointment. He looked so tremendous his 1st couple of years, his game has not improved it has seemed to regress a bit. He is a good LB but he should be in the Willis type of category as far as being an impact guy.

still gets me they traded up in the 2nd round and took harris over woodley.

jetsfan1983 09-20-2012 01:16 PM

Even Dansby on that list is incorrect... The guy is an excellent player. Most of that list is comprised of guys who shouldn't even be considered.

Gastineau99 09-20-2012 01:35 PM

Harris averages $9mil a year, so the $12mil number is skewed, still grossly overpaid.

DBAKE 09-20-2012 01:56 PM

I said last night that Harris would be on my top 5 overpaid or flat out suck jets ....yes we are gonna hear the blah blah...leading tackler...blah blah...it will sound like the way they defended jimmy Leonard for 2 years until they replaced him with someone who actually makes BIG plays every now and then.

Dreamers 09-20-2012 02:43 PM

Cro shouldn't be on this list. There are bigger wastes of money at CB out there IMO. Or Johnathan Joseph who was top ten last year.

TheMikeIsHot 09-20-2012 03:36 PM

He doesn't include Charles Johnson (2012 salary: $34.3-million) but includes Vernon Davis?

This guy is on crack!

Unfortunately the Jets only have one impact player on the team and that's why they are very average....

It's hard to argue with this list. Harris is a very solid ILB but he's certainly not an impact player. Cro - looks great at times and aweful at other, overpaid!

and NO ONE can argue Holmes is overpaid.

Rexipus Rex 09-20-2012 04:01 PM

These lists are so retarded

Who cares if a guy makes $12 million this year if he made $2 million last year on the same contract? It's all how the contracts are structured.

This is just cheap and shallow research in order to be an attention grabber...remember how Cimini was saying this summer that Revis isn't even the highest paid corner on his own team? All he did was neglect the fact that Revis made $32 million in his first two years of the deal (2010-2011)
