Can the Jets afford Welker ?
Welker is a FA next year and from what I have read the relationship between him and the Pats front office is not too good. He is not the fastest receiver but he always seems to find a way to get open. Should the Jets go after him ?

We already have a very good slot WR in Kerley.

No

Welker's one of those guys that looks awesome but when you bring him here he wouldn't be used in the same way, causing an uproar. He's in the ideal offense right now to suit his skillset with the perfect QB to utilize him. Not that he couldn't duplicate his success on other teams, but with our system and our QB, you'd see a shell of the Welker you see on the Pats.

Waste considering we don't have a Qb who could reliably get him the ball.
|
no way in hell. we have holmes and kerley as our midgets.
|
He would not be nearly as effective here unless we brought in a competent QB.
|
He want's #1 money not slot money and that's the rub right now. Do the Jets want to shell out 30 million for 3 years with 20 million guaranteed? That's pretty close to what he wants.

LOL @ meyer with another one liner thread. All this dude does is start lame threads.
Why couldn't this go in the "Who should we keep" thread? |
No thanks. Brady isn't gonna be throwing him the ball here, so I'm not entirely sure he would be that great for us. Not to mention, we already have receivers that are 4'9. What we need to do is get Hill reps and develop him. A tall, young, fast Hill with better hands and experience is much more important to us than an older Welker.

Wes will be like TJ leaving Cinci. He will get paid a lot to go somewhere else and then never be used right. He will likely end up in SF or Carolina next year in a last ditch effort to win something.

How long should thread starting posts be for you to approve? |

Why would he want to come here anyways? The Jets are Division rivals, the organization is a mess, he wouldnt get the money he wants and the qb cant get him the ball consistently.
|
Welker would not be good on the Jets. We have no QB.
He would just be another over priced WR not producing. If Kerley were on the Pats he would be looking at an all-pro season. |
