NY Post reports Jets "shocked" how poorly Tebow practiced...

Per Rotoworld...

According to the New York Post, the Jets were "shocked" at how poorly Tim Tebow played in practices soon after the team traded for him.

A source tells the Post that coach Rex Ryan and OC Tony Sparano "had no idea" how to use Tebow once it became evident that Greg McElroy was improving at a greater rate. The organization was reportedly "frozen with fear" over the Tebowmania factor, concerned that the controversy would wreak havoc with Mark Sanchez's psyche. The Jets bungled every aspect of the Tebow acquisition.

But let's bring Rex back for another year.

Face it folks, the guy is not an NFL HC. The intellect is just not there.

DDNYjets 12-21-2012 12:27 PM

He's a gamer.

:rotfl:

On a serious note, this just speaks to the incompetence of our Owner/FO/HC. It has been well-documented how poor Tebow has practiced going back to his college days. He was so bad in Denver he was the fourth string QB.

There is a reason why they call it the "Tebow offense". That is b.c your whole offense has to be catered to him. He cannot perform in a normal NFL offense. EVERYONE knew this. Why didn't our "braintrust" know this?

The only explanation outside of gross incompetence is that Tebow was a publicity stunt.

The Tebow aquisition was a bungle unto itself. Should have never been considered.

Rex & Tanny are poor talent evaluators and, apparently, poor researches as well. How did they not know this before hand?

Duh.

Sparano did an awful job mixing the Jets offense with what Tebow brought in. Rather than integrating the two, he split it into 2. The Jets offense & the Wildcat with Tebow.

This whole poor practice player is misunderstood to begin with when you don't look at what's really happening. It's not too surprising when you have a spread option QB on your team practicing his own plays with the second team to not fit into a pro style offense that's being run by the first team.

McElroy and Sanchez ran the Jets offense. Tebow was practicing his wildcat plays with the second teams. Then he was probably asked to step in and take some snaps in the Jets offense. The results would be no different if things were reversed and you were running a spread option offense with non-athletic pocket passers as your back ups. Even Tom Brady would look awful trying to run read option plays.

"concerned that the controversy would wreak havoc with Mark Sanchez's psyche."

Just goes to show how poorly they though of this guy. When you treat a player as if he is a chain doll mentally he will become a china doll mentally.

Been saying it for months. He's killing this franchise from the Florham Park zoo, to unprepared, undisciplined team on Sundays to underdeveloped players.

If he is back in '13 it'll be the song remains the same.

Remember during TC when they were selling the sh*t popcicles about how great it was that Tebow and Sanchez bulked up and that it was going to help their games. Some of the eejits here ate it all up. Half the team was bulking up and half the team was losing weight. :P:D Sleep consultants, leadership training. None of it worked.

Who the f*ck wants a diesel QB?

Buzzsaw 12-21-2012 12:37 PM

They should've watched some tape of him playing prior to trading for him. What a stupid idea. Tannenbaum's made a lot of mistakes but the Tebow trade and Sanchez extension are more than enough justification for firing him.

Joe W. Namath 12-21-2012 12:40 PM

Unacceptable. Everyone on the board knew that tebow cant run a pro style offense.

This is all bullsh!t. These guys knew damn well what they were getting with tebow. They are now making excuses.

+1

This board absolutely blew up when the trade happened. Except for the Tebow fans, we all saw this coming a mile away. Rex, Tony S, and Mike need to STFU and GTFO.

Tai-Mai-Shu 12-21-2012 12:47 PM

HAHAHA. ...I can't wait for the wildcat to run all over the Patriots.

But do you really think it was his call to grab Tebow in the first place?

In some thread, there is a story which indicates that Rex and Tanny pulled the trigger on Tebow after hearing Peyton Manning had signed with Denver.

Yt is right

Teblow is too stupid and incompetent to quarterback an NFL style offense with things like forward passes.

So if you are dumb enough to hire Teblow you have to throw your entire playbook in the garbage can and run the dopey Florida Gaytor offense with only five plays ...the five that Timmy can remember...Timmy left...Timmy right...Timmy up the middle...Timmy laterals and Timmy hurls the ball not near anyone.

The Broncos tried this for one season but Elway saw what a failure it is and got rid of this bust.

Sadly the Jets picked him up. Every time though they tried to run the Teblow offense though they nevrr could get past Timmy play number 3

Timmy left ...two yards..second and eight

Timmy right...minus four third and 12

Timmy up the middle..one yard..fourrh and 11

Punt

Not once did we get to Timmy laterals or Timmy hurls the ball not near anyone

Fortunately the stiff is gone in just over a week to the Elite League of India
