beanie wells

take a chance.

young back (24). appears to have a good ability to also catch the ball out of the backfield.

thought ????

Dcat 12-25-2012 07:48 PM

injured 80% of the time. Bad idea.

Green Bandit 12-25-2012 07:59 PM

Not sure of his contract status, but would take him in off the scrap heap if he was left there by the cards. Would give ZERO up for him if he is under contract.

Sanchez for Bennie sure

Untouchable 12-25-2012 08:27 PM

Pass

I'd rather take a shot on a guy like Mendenhall.

TheMikeIsHot 12-25-2012 08:27 PM

He's a talented guy who has the skills and speed to be a #1. He is big, strong and athletic, but he's ALWAYS hurt.

If they were to cut him, I'd love for the jets to sign him if the price is right.

He and Powell would be a nice combo and wouldn't have to carry the load here.

God no to Mende. At one point I thought he was good but then started to watch him play. I'd rather have Greene back.

Good player, but cannot stay healthy at all.

+1000 seem him first hand. Would take him in a heartbeat

Cornfed 12-25-2012 10:46 PM

I actually really like Bilal Powell from what we've seen of him. And I bet he'd look even better if we could open things up with a viable passing offense.

Powell can play, but we need another back. Greene sucks.

mrcoops 12-26-2012 12:54 AM

Beanie is big and fast, but he's made of glass.

Would only take a shot if he was very cheap.

Greene isn't a great back, but at least he generally stays on the field.

You guys are right about Wells being injury prone. Especially compared to someone like Shonn Greene.

Beanie and Mendenhall are both guys I'd really look at. Both should cost very little money and have a few things going for them.

I really think running backs tend to hit their stride around 24-27. Those are the absolute best years. The guys who work harder last even longer.

Beanie has played his entire career behind a pretty bad offensive line. The only problem with him is the potential injury risk, but that injury risk is one of the main reasons we can get him cheap.

Same with Mendenhall. Similar age, good experience now, should be pretty cheap. Has been successful in the past.

Both of these guys I would take chances on over Shonn Greene.

buzzershot18 12-26-2012 11:06 AM

thought this would be a good spot for my first post... I think I speed back is needed to compliment the guys we already have in our backfield, so on that note I'd pass on Wells.
Most teams have a power back and a speed back to compliment each other, but it seems like we only have pounders (McKnight doesn't count).
A man i was looking at was Knowshon Moreno who was inactive for 8 games and seemed like he was going to be cut, but then he had a huge second half of the season (Offensive Player of the Week). I thought we should've made a move to get him early because of the upside and he wasn't playing and could contribute here, at least i was right about that.

Ron Swanson 12-26-2012 12:06 PM

Beanie Wells is a terrible football player. Some of you guys seriously just want to sign anyone you've heard of, huh?

Gibby 12-26-2012 12:23 PM

He is starting to get up there in miles, and he is 29. Stats on backs are always on the decline after 30. Perhaps the Rams know this as well, and would trade Stephen Jackson to us for our # 2 pick.

fltflo 12-26-2012 12:51 PM

I have to agree with the fans here who have been quietly impressed by Powell. I thought he really improved this year by leaps and bounds over his rookie season.
I think if we had a line like we did in 2010 and 11 this kid would open some eyes.
