Jetster plan

1st and foremost the Jets need to adjust quickly to this new NFL & they need to learn how to get what you want by using whatever means necessary.

That includes nepotism.

Here's my plan of action.
1st
Fire Rex
2nd
Hire Kyle Shanahan as HC
3rd
Trade Revis to the Vikings for Percy Harvin & the Vikings 2nd round pick
4th
Trade that 2nd rounder & a conditional 2014 draft pick ( based on games played) to the Redskins for Kirk Cousins.
Now you have your offensive coach & a QB that has already got one year under his belt of that coaches system.
Without the threat of another Revis contract the Jets should make only 1 big move in FA & that is to bring in Levitre.
5th/Draft
Boring! Take the BPA at that 1st pick between the Oline or OLB
Whichever guy left at that pick is the best.
Jets need to build an Oline that is more mobile than the one they have.
They could use a late pick for another RB & TE
Kyle would have:
Holmes, Harvin, Hill, Braylon, Powell, McKnight, Cumberland, rookie RB, Rookie TE to work with.
On defense, if Ron Rivera gets fired bring him in to be the DC & go to a 4/3 defense & start going after the QB with Wilk & Coples.

In 2014, we can get rid of Sanchez unless by some miracle we can dump him this offseason.
This organization needs to make some bold moves.
Us Jet fans deserve something for our loyalty.
For once I would love them to do things other than try to solve problems with Free Agent veterans.
Go Jets!

A Kyle Shanahan/Kirk Cousins combination would be a great idea if this were 2014 if RGInjury makes it through the remainder of this season and all of next season. Kirk Cousins isn't going anywhere in 2013.

Why do you want to switch to a 4-3 defense?
Our players are better suited for the 3-4. All you need is 2 good OLBs and we suddenly have a great 3-4,
If you switch to a 4-3, you will need 2 new DEs ( the 4-3 requires speedy edge rushers which we dont have) a new MLB who has enough speed to cover sideline to sideline (Harris doesnt have that kind of speed), and another OLB to complement Davis (who i assume will play outside).

A Southern Californian Rocket Ship of Offensive Awesomeness

The problem may be that the team does not have enough former USC quarterbacks.

Keep Sanchez. Get Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer on the roster. Nothing like entitlement to go with all the turn overs.

SAR would be happy.

We need either two OLB's or two DE's - does it really matter? To some Wilkerson and Coples coming up the middle would be more effective than on the edge. Also, you could put Harris on the outside, Davis in the middle and find another OLB - perhaps Smith.

Right now we're really not suited to play a 34 or 43. More like a 2-3-6. Ha.

Good comedy

Thats funny.Whats even funnier is that people here agree with you. Kyle Shanahan hasn't even proved anything as an OC let alone a head coach. You want to fire a 4th year head coach who's had his team in 2 championship games for him. Shanahan hasn't even coached as a coordinator in a playoff game

patman 12-27-2012 10:26 AM

Jetster, interesting but depends on the co-operation of two other teams.

Would Shanahan take the chance that he can find another quality B/U.
maybe getting Minn to give Harvin, a 3rd and Joe Webb and send both the pick and Webb to the Skins. Webb has the skill set to run the spread option and would be a good fit as a back up. This way Shanahan gets a qb that is a fit and gets a 3rd to replace the 4th that he spent on Cousins.

Uh, OK
Considering that Rex used Manginis players & only got a playoff berth in 2009 because the Colts LET THEM, he's only really made the playoffs once!
COMPLETELY HAD A NO SHOW ON DEFENSE IN THE AFCC GAME IN 2010!

NO SHOW!
ON DEFENSE!
HIS SPECIALTY!
ON DEFENSE!
STEELERS RAN THE BALL DOWN OUR THROATS!
IN THE AFCCG!

2011- Loses the locker room & doesn't even know it?
2012- Lets Sanchez single handedly RUIN ALL OF OUR SEASON by turning the ball over 1000 times! well almost.

I want an OC that is an innovator. Kyle is young, ballsy, learned from one of the best (his father), knows how to move a pocket, uses motion, gets his Oline on the move, & can teach a young QB (He's proven that with RG3 & Cousins).

Harris on the outside? think about it, the guy has limited range as a ILB in a 3-4 and your going to throw him out on an island, with twice the coverage area responsibilites?

I'm hoping this is where the nepotism plays out. A high 2nd is an awesome pick for a BU QB.
Skins need to get the picks they gave up for RG3
Not a bad idea you have there involving Webb.

Do you understand that right now Minny is in the playoffs? and if they win and Balt, seattle and indy lose they will be picking 27th.

Davis & a 1st round pick would be outside.
Maybe a journeyman LB that gets cut for cap

Who cares, next year is a gimme year. Put in the system.
This is a 2 year plan knowing that Sanchez is off the books in 2014.
2014 draft is the filler of the voids in 2013.

Maybe we can OUTSCORE a few teams & have a slightly above average D in 2013.

Minny loses this weekend
Your right, made a mistake about the high 2nd, but that's why you do a conditional in 2014

Do you understand faux jet 07 that Jet fans don't need the biased assistance from a 94 year ol d chowd troll

We were ahead against the cols in the third quarter, in indy. Shonn Greene gets hurt, Peyton takes over, we lose, oh well. In Pitt we came out a little flat, because we just had a emotional victory against NE .Home field would have made a difference. Kyle Shanahan hasn't proved anything, nothing.I keep asking the same question. Would a quality QB who didn't turn the ball over, made a difference in our record?Would a quality QB who ha a healthy Holmes and Keller made a difference in our record. My answer is yes a 3 or four game difference. What does that mean. Playoffs, for the third time in four years.

Well the OP has a different opinion, and your only contribution to the thread once again is telling someone else not to contribute.

That is going to be a great game this weekend. Peterson going for the record, The fans are going to be loud, Woodson will still be out and Cobb won't even try to practice till Friday

I like to see views from other fans, especially knowing your son is a Jet fan.
Funny thing about Jet fans is they don't realize that Rex is the head clown in this NYJ circus.

You can talk all you want & it was great when we were winning but it has exasperated the circus atmosphere when you lose.
Also Rex has proven that he is too loyal, Trevor Price was right on, but you can't change half way, well you can if your going from hard AZZ like Caughlin to slightly mellower, that crap doesn't work the other way around going class clown to hardazz.

Rex needs to be shown the door, 2013 is a WASTED year if he's brought back.

The thing is IMO that the jets situation is so poor this year that it is not attractive to the upper echelon of potential HC.

I am in favor of letting Rex reap what he sowed in his first two years here. then in 2014 the jets will have a vastly improved cap position, The new players from this years draft, and probably a top 12 draft position next year.
A much better scenario to attract the top talent to the jets.
