Anyone who bet Marty scoring in his first period back is now a rich man
Big time win, Devils now back in 7th.
I like Hedberg a lot, but Marty makes such a huge difference. Not only between the pipes, but we badly missed his puck handling. That's a major flaw in Hedberg's game and Marty is obviously as good as it gets in that department. Canes only had 18 shots tonight and Marty's ability to handle the puck and kill a potential cycle was a huge reason for that.
Let's Go Devils!
Kovy out 2-4 weeks... ****
If only Henrique could have corralled that rebound in the last seconds of overtime, the net was wide open. However, considering the circumstances, I'm happy to leave there with a point. First game without Kovy and they played a fantastic third period with the bench short two men. It's going to be difficult to manufacture scoring without Kovy, but the team as a whole looks better since Marty's return.
Ps beautiful goal by Zidlicky to tie it. He catches a lot of **** for his defensive lapses at times, but his offensive skill and puck handling outweigh it IMO.
Marty sure makes a difference. Lou should just lock him up til he's 64. Gotta her as many points as possible with Kovy sidelined.
Let's Go Devils!
Back in action tonight. Hoping for a sweep of the Florida teams.
Steve Sullivan back in a Devils jersey, 17 years later. I can't believe this guy is still around.
Another ugly night.
It's shocking how much this team can dominate play for stretches with their forechecking and cycling, yet time and time again have nothing to show for it. They have no idea how to put the puck in the net. Zajac has been absurdly underproducing, Elias isn't scoring, Clarkson has been awful since his hot start. In this league, if you make the playoffs, anything can happen. But, I just don't see how it will do them any good to get bounced out of the first round in 5 games rather than miss the playoffs. They're a very old team in need of some roster turnover.
I was watching the Bruins game a week or so ago with a buddy (Blackhawks fan) and he was flabbergasted on how we basically dominated them for the entire first period, had 10 legitimate scoring opportunities and just couldn't put one in. Told him welcome to our season...
