With several more weeks to go before the draft, free agency on the horizon, and countless pro-days to analyze, this list will be changing several times over.

I like how he indicated the changes (in/out). Explanations as to why would have been nice, but at least he noted the changes.

SoCalJet 03-03-2013 10:44 AM

I like how he has separate list for 3-4 / 4-3 DE and LB

Yes and no.

I mean Jarvis Jones is being considered as a 3-4 OLB but he's not on that list, he's on the 4-3 OLB list. Whereas Dion Jordan is only on the 3-4 OLB list.

I'd like to know how he thinks Jordan compares to Jones as a 3-4 OLB. He should put their names on both lists, rank the same player in each category.

Yeah it's a little screwy. Id put Moore and jones in the 3-4 category too, unless he means to rate them below #5 respectively

Mayack is full of himself. He rated all those players based on what he saw when he watched the games they played in. Then he went to the combines and he changed his rating base on how those same players did drill instead of how they reacted to the plays that were ran against them.

Football is not played in shorts and track shoes like they do at the combines. It's a cat and mouse game between players and reaction to each other is what should determined how a player is graded.

There's a reason why some players grade doesn't change and why other do. The Players who's tape matches their drills, are high quality players who should garner the attention of teams. The players who tape doesn't match their workouts are the players who teams should consider based on their tape. The Players whose drills doesn't match their tape are the players u avoid.

Once upon a time i saw a WR at the combines who went to a Mid Atlantic Conference college. At his school, he was a prolific pass receiver with great hands. This player went to the combines and at 6'4" and over 220lbs ran a great 40. Because of where he went to school, he wasn't taken seriously. Today, he's one of the top receivers in pro football, a SB Champion and a great teamate.

What someone does when they laced em up and put on the Pads should matter.

That's football.

@TonyPauline: Justin Pugh/OL/Syracuse completes 22 reps on bench at SU pro-day. Coming off the shoulder injury...

Mayack(?) is full of himself? How've you looked in the mirror lately? Let me know when the entire nation asks for your mock draft.

LOL, exactly.

And when MayOck released his initial top 5s, I would assume he only watched a couple of games on each guy.

Tinstar, has it ever occurred to you that perhaps Mayock has gone back and watched more film since the Combine? That's part of the reason of the Combine...it's to confirm what you've seen on tape. He probably saw a few things that made him want to go back and watch more games of certain prospects.

Rich Eisen just tweeted tht Mayock now has E.J. Manuel as his #2 QB over Barkley FWIW

C Mart 03-07-2013 02:55 PM

@richeisen: Check it out Florida St fans: Mike Mayock just popped EJ Manuel up over Matt Barkley as the No. 2 QB available in the draft.

@RapSheet: Wow, EJ Manuel moves to No. 2 on Mike Mayock's Top 5 QB list behind Geno Smith... After that, Barkley, Glennon and Nassib/Jones tied

There's no way in hell that the QB i saw play For FSU is better than the QB i saw play at USC. But maybe i am wrong.

Smells like a gut reaction to his stock plummeting after Cosell's lambasting, but then again, maybe everyone's starting to see the same thing on game tape.

Either way, the smart money is on NY passing on another USC QB, and probably the position altogether.

It's a fluid process right. Cam Newton went from 2-3 round prospect to the 1st pick overall. That happened without him playing a snap between Jan and April. It's all in the process of evaluating, cross-talk, going back and re-evaluating, etc etc.

Wasn't Cam Newton the known pick of the Panthers from the getgo. Dispite all the naysayers, i thought it was widely known that the newly hired HC of the Panthers was extremely high on Cam Newton.

Paradis 03-07-2013 04:32 PM

No, i don't think so. I don't remember at what point it was known that CAR was talking him, but he certainly wasn't favored to go anywhere near the top 10 early on.
