Beanie Wells a FA... Worth signing as a tandem with Powell?

I'm not saying Wells is going to blow up. Hardly.

But certainly, we need the depth - and I can't see the Jets spending an early round pick on a RB this year.

Seem to fit the need/price here.

I'd rather just draft a RB in the 3rd/4th

Yea, plus Wells can not stay on the field. RBs are disposable, draft them, use them up, and get rid of them.

Exactly

I'd rather use what ever little bit of cash we have to make a run at re-signing Landry.

Or I guess re-sign Keller if that's what the Jets are set on.

i think he is a clear upgrade to our running backs. He will come cheaply. It would be a high upside pickup if we arent signing him to be our feature back

Me too, but i'd rather not spend ANY picks on a RB this year TBH.

There's not much to like this year to begin with, and the margin of talent difference between this year's 4th round and the UDFA market is small.

John McClane 03-11-2013 04:55 PM

Didn't we have two number 2 RBs last year?

How about, keep Powell, draft someone capable of playing all 3 downs.

Don't pay RBs their second and third contracts, especially when we have cap issues.

Vinny Testaverde's Niece 03-11-2013 04:57 PM

He sucks, he's the Dustin Keller of RB's- disappointing, unmet potential, plus he's always injured.

:Dyou are basing that speculation os the so called draft gurus who are usually wrong......did anyone see russell wilson tearing things up when he got drafted.....to assume that this draft is ''bad'' is pretty silly since we have yet to see them play in the league.....these same players were tearing it up in college.....just because some guru says that this draft is weak does not mean these players will not be all pros. surprised more of you don't see that by now.

If we can get him cheap he'd be better then anything in this sad draft. Had high hopes for him but could never stay healthy. Maybe behind a better line he will thrive. I'd rather Bradshaw.

jpoppy7 03-11-2013 05:16 PM

Not good and can't stay healthy. Would rather just bring back Greene.

jetsfreak 03-11-2013 05:22 PM

:DHow do you know that this draft is sad lol do you watch college football....have you seen Gio Bernard and some of the other backs who can be drafted in later rounds...why bring in a back who has done nothing except get hurt since being drafted out of ohio state....please explain why this draft is ''sad''.

I have followed the RBs adamantly this year. Not one is NFL starter quality. I have tried to find an unside in this class but there really is none. People keep pushing Lacy but he looks like 4th round talent on tape. Gio is nothing special either. I'd take Powell over him. Montee Ball and Christine Michael come the closest to even being good NFL talent and both are 3rd round talent IMO. I wouldn't want a RB out of this class sorry. I really only see 8-9 guys even worth drafting. That is a sad class. Not top end heavy and not very deep. Wells still has more potential then anyone in that class.

jetsfreak 03-11-2013 06:06 PM

:DI hear you but wells have done pretty much nothing since being drafted....we need more reliable players right now.....running backs can be a dime a dozen....i like the backs in this years draft.
