Just enjoyed a feast of beer battered crappie for dinner tonight. Nothing better than fresh caught fish for dinner. :D

LOL, I was expecting to read that you got a bad appetizer at a restaurant or something.

What is a crappie?

Crappie is a fish. Related to the bass family of fishes. Very easy to clean and fillet. http://www.crappie.com/johna/johna_files/crappie.jpg

Yeah I got the part that it's a fish. Is it mild? or fishy?

Crappie is relatively mild, not overly fishy at all. Especially when cooked right (Fried is a good way to go).

Oh, and to see one, look at the 4th shot from left in my sig :D

The problem with crappies (or bluegills or rock bass or sunfish or any of those fish that look identical, except for color) is that the filets are so small. You need to catch, clean and filet a bunch of them to get a meal.

I don't like fish enough to go to that much trouble.

Beer, self-rising flour, salt and pepper. If you want to spice it up with other stuff, that's up to you.
