a couple quick notes about concussions

1) there is no proof that a different helmet or mouthguard can prevent a concussion. there is no science to back any of those claims up... it's basically marketing at this point... or personal preference.

2) concussions are cumulative, meaning after the first, it's easier to get a second... and after a second it's easier to get a third... and so on...

3) there is no correlation between the size of a hit and a concussion. A guy can take a huge hit and walk away... and later that season take a seemingly minor hit and get concussed.

4) concussions are easy to hide. It's not like a broken leg or something where you know the guy is hurt and he can't play. Guys get their "bell rung" and go back in the game all the time... and then later they report not remembering the entire 2nd half etc. It's not easy to quantity how concussed some one is or how many times he was concussed

all this adds up to dont expect Brodney Pool to be around for very long... or for this to be an upgrade over Kerry Rhodes

best case they use him like Kerry to cover deep on 3rd and long and let Eric Smith do the work on running downs... and I dont think they are done adding safeties, either in draft or FA. if someone signs Feely, Darren Sharper could be a fit.

one final note depending on what the competition committee says this week there might be further rules about allowing the WR to protect themselves before a hit... so the type of big hits that safeties load up on WR when they just get the ball, might be a penalty next year.
