If the grand plan is to only use a 1st rounder on a player that will start this season you have A) eliminated over half of the positions you can pick for and B) might be leaving a very good player on the board. Woody and Faneca are getting up their in age, if you want to replace them with JAGS or rookies by all mean.

Wow, let me re-state my argument again. Iupati can not beat out any of our current starters, and you don't rotate offensive linemen.

The only two positions where a rookie wouldn't even see the field in 2010 would be OL and QB (we're obviously not taking a QB).

Every other position the rookie can at least get some experience and contribute to the team, and that's IF he doesn't start. A CB can get on the field in nickel and dime packages, a DL/OLB or RB can as part of a rotation, a receiver in multiple sets, etc.
