The economy is not in the realm of many in government. Congress pays lip service to it but I fully believe they only care about votes and the ability to raise taxes based on a more robust economy.
I have never really met anyone in a government job that fully understood how important it is to deliver value, that a 3rd party will pay for and buy your own benefits and lifestyle with the profit. Let alone took a college course in macro economics.
