SHARKS ADD TWO ROOKIES TO ROSTER
09/27/2011 7:00 PM
The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announce linebacker Frank Padilla and wide receiver Oliver Young have been added to the 2012 roster.

Frank Padilla (6'1, 240 lbs) will play his rookie season in the Arena Football League with the Sharks in 2012. Padilla joins the Sharks after a senior season for the New Mexico State Aggies. In that season, he registered 49 total tackles and a forced fumble. Padilla also saw playing time as an underclassman at the College of Sequoias where he was an All-Conference linebacker.

"I'm so blessed to join such a tremendous organization," said Padilla about joining the Sharks. "The team has only been around for two years, but already has a reputation for being the best and I want to continue the tradition. I am so very happy that I can be a part of this team and cannot wait to bring another championship to Jacksonville."

Oliver Young (6'2, 200 lbs) will also see action as a rookie in the Arena Football League in 2012. Young played in 45 games at South Carolina State, starting the final two seasons. He ranks as the Bulldogs' all-time leader with 134 receptions and 2,149 receiving yards while averaging 24.9 yards on 26 kickoff returns and 12.0 yards on 28 punt returns. As a senior, Young was listed on the first-team All-Conference team after setting a single-season school record with 995 yards on 65 catches and nine touchdowns. He also added a kickoff return for a touchdown with his 548 kick return yards on the season. Following his standout collegiate career, Young was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Carolina Panthers in 2010.
