In all seriousness the out-of-control nature of child care in this country is something that needs to be addressed. So I am all for the idea of doing something that makes child care more affordable in a society where, in many cases, both parents need to work. And, of course, the burden on single parents is even greater.

The cost of day care is stunning. And this is a case where the principles of capitalism work against what is best for society. The cost of day care is set by the market because many parents simply have no other alternative. In this case the government should step in to regulate the greed.
How exactly would you force the day care and its workers to work for less? You want to subsidize it from local, state or a federal level? You want to force school systems to include infant care so the community would have to pay for 6 months to 18 years? Last I checked schools and towns are crying poverty. Where is that money going to come from?
