IJF....If this post doesn't show you basically are a socialist , nothing will. I have 3 daycare centers as clients, none of the owners make what a 7 year LI school teacher makes. I.e....they don't earn 6 figures, have NO PENSION and pay for their own health insurance.

Couldn't the high rate of property tax be thebreal culprit on why 2 people need to work?

Let's regulate them .....
Wrong, my friend.

I am all for capitalism. But there is no pure form of capitalism on this planet. We have what is called a 'mixed economy'. And there are times when the government must become involved. The out-of-control nature of child care is one area.

There are many reasons for why both parents must work and to insinuate that teacher salaries are the main culprit is a stretch to say the least. High property taxes are one of many reasons. The cost of food, health care, day care and saving for college are just a few examples. And the burden on single parents is even more acute.

But blaming school teachers as the main reason why parents need to work in 2011 is just following along the usual far-right talking points. How about ending the billion dollar tax gravy train going to private companies to build the very same things in foreign countries that are needed and denied right here.
