Tim Howard Scores vs. Bolton...

Pretty nuts. I'd like to see him do that against Venezuela in a few weeks.

American Tim Howard, the epitome of cool, watched the ball go in the net and simply turned away.

As if he had scored before. So, so easy, right?

Wrong.

Everton's Howard became the fourth goalkeeper in the storied history of the English Premier League to score, joining Brad Friedel, an American, Peter Schmeichel of Denmark, and England's Paul Robinson. Howard unleashed a ball from his own end, in the 63rd minute, of the Everton-Bolton game, from about 100 yards out.

The wind-aided ball took a crazy bounce about 25 yards from the Bolton goal and hopped over the outstretched arms of Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan, a Hungarian national. Howard's teammates, including Landon Donovan of the Galaxy, who is with Everton on loan, came back and mobbed him.

And then the Internet exploded with tweets and video clips of Howard's goal. The fact Bolton rallied to win, 2-1, was almost forgotten in the excitement about the goal.

"Tim Howard will take the acclaim!" shouted the British TV play-by-play commentator.

As the 32-year-old Howard rightly should.
