Barron is not the only starting caliber safety in the draft. I like Martin and Ileoka size and playmaking ability more, anyway. The first round value at safety is very rare.... Reed and Polamaleau, notwithstanding, who were picked later in the first. Barron was just one player on a very good defense, Martin and Ileoka stood out more on their respective defenses, and had to make up for more overall deficiencies, in my opinion. The Jets can get a very serviceable guy in FA, then draft a safety in the 3rd or 4th round, and be better off. Landry is ridiculously overrated, a liability in coverage, injury prone, and his one saving grace.... being a "big hitter", is the one thing the Jets already have in Smith..... not an upgrade, and too expensive.
