If you have a mantle between the fire place and the TV it will help deflect the heat quite well.
My set up, I channeled out room for a conduit to run from behind the TV to the lower cabinet to the right that holds the equipment before I installed the cabinets and tile on the fireplace. Also added an electric outlet behind the TV and used an articulating TV mount to ease in hooking every thing up.
