I think there were more words prior to the statement, like say...

Thurman: I feel he can be as good as Ed Reed
all Thurman said is that Landry is just about the most athletically-gifted safety he's ever coached, even when compared to Ed Reed.
the assessment is made from the purely physical standpoint. nobody was comparing skills, play-making ability or football instincts.
