I was on that field a few weeks after it was replaced and it is a nice surface with plenty of "give". The problem, I believe, resides in the cleats these players are wearing now. The cleats are way too aggressive. Meaning look at the outer edge of the bottom and just how many spikes are there. Back in the day there were seven cleats on a shoe now there are four just on the outside edge and twelve across the entire shoe and this is just the one example I can find.
I have a really hard time believing that these new turf surfaces cause more injury than a natural surface.

I agree with you about the cleats.
But sometimes these new fields are not perfect either. It looks like guys feet are getting stuck underneath them.
