Score points. Win games. It's not that hard a concept to grasp. If you put all your eggs in the defensive basket then there's nothing left to build a good offense with. We are imbalanced.

Good points, but ou left out one thing: it is very helpful to your defense if the offense can hold on to the ball for more than 3 plays.
With the modern rules favoring offenses, even great defenses will give up points if left on the field all night long.
