Two Killed in Sampang Religious Violence Incident

Quote:
The death toll of the Sampang Shia minority group has increased to two. "The fatalities are siblings," said Ip, one of the Shia followers who requested that his full name not be mentioned, to Tempo August 26, 2012.

The victims who were killed were Thohir (40 years) and Muhammad Khosim (45 years). Both were neighbors of the leading Sampang Shia religion figure, cleric Tajul Muluk, who is now detained at the local correctional institution after being sentenced to two years in jail for blasphemy.

Muhammad Khosim or Bapak Hamamah died from a slash wound by a sickle on his stomach. While his brother Thohir died from stab wounds on his back by a sword and sickle while trying to help his brother who was trapped in the house, being stoned by the anti-Shia group.

"They managed to run Thohir to the Karanggayam elementary school, but his life could not be saved," Ip said.

Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Contrast) East Java, Andy Irfan Junaidi, said Contrast had asked the police to provide security to prevent more victims. "The regional police chief said that he had sent security forces," he said.

Meanwhile, the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Hadiatmoko until this news is posted has not replied to text messages or calls. Similarly, when Tempo tried to contact Chief Commissioner of the Police Public Relations Hilman Thayib.

Sickle to the stomach? An interesting way to fight and kill for the invisible wizard.
