IMO, if almost any other election, the combination of the assassination of a U.S. Ambassador and his team, followed by a non-action by the President, followed by an obvious cover-up for political purposes, followed by a comment like "bump in the road", would combine to be an absolute killer, and election loser, for the sitting President.
Add in the state of the economy.
It continues to beg the question as to why Romney is not up 10 points at this point.
