Toyota couldn't figure out a way to make them accessible and replaceable like an oil filter??? Japs are smarter than that.
Yeah, they may be smarter now, but maybe not on 2001.
I looked up the part online to see if I was getting jobbed. Turns our the part itself is really over 400.0.

The problem is its location - it's located under my spare tire, which was completely rusted the **** on there. They had to drill the bolts out. At least I didn't find this out the hard way, with a flat tire on the side of the highway.

To top it off, NJ DMV makes it an extra hassle for you when you fail for emissions. Apparently you need to have your vehicle repaired at an 'emissions specialist' service station, and they need to to document what they fixed, and sign their name to the repairs.

Once you jump through that hoop, THEN you go back to the DMV to see if your car passes inspection. The other half of the reason I failed was because of my check engine lights. If you simply 'reset' the codes, they will also fail you for that as well, or so I'm told.

So I went to the DMV fully expecting to fail again, I figured I would just go and get my 30-day waiver for at least attempting to go for re-inspection.
I almost shat in my pants when a dull-eyed DMV employee busted out the ice scraper and scraped off my 3 'REJECTED' stickers.

It was like driving around with a sign that said 'pull me over and give me a ticket!'
