Ryan has often said that he’d never “put a muzzle on a man,” giving his players the freedom to express their opinions. Although he disagreed with players speaking anonymously, he maintained that he wouldn’t take a “hard line” with restrictions on what they could say to the media.
“I’m not hiding anything,” Ryan said. “I know it’s probably a unique way of doing things. Could it come back and bite you? I guess. But to me, I’m not afraid of it.”
