Material things & status mean nothing when your suffering from mental illness.
Simple depression can change someones outlook on life no matter what it might look to others from the outside.
Humans are complicated creatures.
The child will suffer most losing both parents, but I'm sure there are loving family members that will step forward and nurture that child.
