Facebook takes down picture: Woman in bathtub had big elbows not breasts

A picture of a woman in a bathtub, whose elbows looked like bare big breasts, was taken down by Facebook. While looking at the picture quickly, it could give the illusion that this woman is baring her breasts for the camera, but in all actuality, you are seeing nothing more than her elbows. Facebook removed the woman’s picture and apparently didn't take the time to see that the breasts were really her elbows.

This was an experiment of sorts to see if Facebook monitors their website for pictures that are actually risqué in nature as opposed to ones that could be perceived as risqué. The website, Theories of the Deep Understanding of Things did this test to see how Facebook would react to this picture. They got their answer, the picture was taken down.

The woman in the picture is reclined in the bathtub and her red elbow tips could look like nipples if you do a quick take. Once you take a second look at the picture, you realize you’re seeing nothing more than the woman’s reddened elbows.

Facebook first took the picture down and now after much buzz online, they reposted the picture and sent an apology along for the misunderstanding. When CNet writer Chris Matyszczyk contacted Facebook and the administrator said that they’ve already re-posted the picture and sent along a letter of apology for taking this picture down. Matyszczyk points out that if this really was the woman's breast in the picture, it would be a “geometrically unique one.”

The picture above does look as if the woman’s breasts are heaving out of the tub, but a closer look lets the eye see it is only an optical illusion. In fairness to Facebook, the picture does have the appearance of a woman showing her breasts while taking a bath.
