His plan is no more or less stupid and unrealistic as the leftists calling for bans on certain types of weapons. How does banning weapons that look like military assault rifles (actual assault weapons have been banned since the 1920's) stop these types of tragedies from occurring. Handguns are much more dangerous than rifles. You can keep a handgun concealed. You can conceal a number of hand guns. They have clips that can hold 20 rounds.
The whole concept of banning certain types of weapons has no basis in preventing future tragedies. How do I know? Because the Brady Bill assault weapon ban is already in effect in CT. It didn't do anything to prevent the shooting at that school.
An armed guard at the school may have actually helped. Gun safety training might have helped the mother not be such an irresponsible moron by keeping her guns accessable to a troubled youth. A working mental health system might have caught up to that kid before he snapped. Those people that think banning certain types of weapons or clips would help the situation are not serious about a solution. Seems to me they are taking advantage of a tragedy to push a political agenda.
