I have not seen any evidence that the potential executive order has anything to do with confiscating privately owned firearms. In fact, such an action would be illegal. Executive orders cannot exceed Constitutional authority or stand in violation of legislation passed by Congress.
Unlike assassinating American citizens without due process, such an action will simply not be tolerated by a large percentage of Americans.
In all likelihood, the order will be for stronger enforcement of already existing federal laws. Nothing more, nothing less.
