The seahawks could have easily made it to the Super Bowl and they are lead by Pete Carroll, another former defensive coordinatory

And Mike Smith was a defensive coach before becoming head coach.

So if anything, this year proves that you are better off with a defensive minded head coach that has a good QB/OC.
I have to agree. If we truly are making a long term commitment to the WCO, then We may in fact keep both the coordinators. The new HC could concentrate on the whole team aspect and be a leader and tweak without having to call plays (on offense or defense).
