There isn't hate, there is just the realization that he wasn't very good. He played hard, but had no moves and was always ranked at the bottom of the league in yards after first contact (something pretty pathetic for a guy who is not known for his speed or elusivness).
In addition, we have had a good run of solid, but not spectacular RBs since the 80s with Freeman, Cmart, T. Jones, johhny hector, A Murrell, Richie Anderson, Blair Thomas, LT and Leon Washington. None were great (outside of maybe Cmart) but none were any worse than Greene.
I can't see Powell being any worse than Greene and he will come at a much lower price tag. Getting rid of Greene is a no brainer move and he will likely have a hard time finding another team willing to give him a starting job.
