I think it has more to do with a poor defense than the offense being a problem. It's going to sometimes be tougher to score in the playoffs. If the defense was getting more stops and not solely relying on the big play to stop drives they'd be in better shape come playoff time. Teams know they can score on the NE defense now, so they get more aggressive on defense to stop Brady. It's not like the Super Bowl teams that had a defense that could get the stop when needed.
