He played well in those 2 games......Tackled well and just happened to not get exposed, congrats 2 whole games
Since then, he has been a nightmare on defense whenever he is out there
Answer me this:
On a passing down and distance, in what position would Eric Smith actually succeed in? Obviously not man to man against a WR, TE, or even a RB out of the backfield where he has been sliced up repeatedly......He is not athletic or quick enough to be an effective blitzer off the edge in a DB blitz..........He can't play deep help like a safety should because he's too slow, short, and generally bad ball skills......
It only leaves short zone like a middle linebacker would where Eric Smith would be OK at best.......And I ask you, why not just play an actual linebacker there that is most definitely faster and better in coverage???
He's worthless.
